30-year old planning permission, finally approved by Sintra Câmara

A new record has been achieved at Sintra Câmara, but it is hardly reason for celebration.
A 30-year-old request from a resident to build a wall on private property has finally been authorised. It is not even certain that the resident is still alive – or indeed living anymore at the property.
As local mayor Basílio Horta affirms, it is absolutely “fundamental” that people are given a local administration that is “quick and efficient”. Horta adds that his council is struggling with around 5,000 cases, all involving construction and urban rehabilitation.
