3.8 earthquake registered off Algarve coast

An earthquake measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale was registered off the coast of the Algarve at 7.53am this morning (February 11).

The epicentre was around 75km south of the Saint Vincent Cape in Sagres, Vila do Bispo, says the national sea and atmosphere institute IPMA.

There are no reports of damage caused to property or injuries to people.

The quake was felt at its full intensity (III/IV on the Mercalli modified intensity scale) in Lagoa and Portimão and with less intensity in Lagos, the institute adds.
