A 3.4 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale was recorded this Sunday with its epicentre located approximately eight kilometres from Monchique at 9.18pm.
According to the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), the earthquake “did not cause personal or material damage” but was “felt with maximum intensity IV/V (Modified Mercalli scale) in the municipalities of Albufeira and Lagoa (Faro).”
“It was also felt with less intensity in the municipalities of Beja (Beja), Monchique, Portimão, and Silves (Faro),” it added.
