An earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale was detected off the coast of the Algarve at 3.08pm on Wednesday, reports the National Sea and Atmosphere Institute (IPMA).
Its epicentre was around 50km southwest of Albufeira, the institute says
“This eartquake, according to information available up until now, did not cause material or personal damage and was felt with maximum intensity on the scale level II of the modified Mercalli intensity scale in Portimão,” IPMA adds.
