A fire at an industrial aviary in Gândara, Sever do Vouga, led to the deaths of no less than 25,000 chicks.
The owner of the business – which also lost a JCB earthmover and tractor in the blaze – told reporters that she is certain the fire was started on purpose.
PJ police are investigating while Maria Marques and her staff have the grisly task of disposing of thousands of charred little birds.
