Foreign affairs minister João Gomes Cravinho has given an update today on the Portuguese citizens caught up in the fighting between military factions. Of the 22 citizens registered in Sudan, 21 are “out of the situation of greatest danger” and on their way to Portugal. They are not yet out of Sudan, but they are on their way, he stressed. One of the 22 has said he wants to stay in the country, and is not “in the area of greatest conflict”. Fighting broke out in the country on April 15 since which time there have been more than 420 deaths, with thousands injured.
