Parliamentary committee proposes quotas for black police and gipsy university students

A parliamentary sub-commission on discrimination has recommended that Portugal adopt a quota system to reduce incidences of racism and xenophobia.

MP Catarina Marcelino has presented the various proposals which centre on security, education, habitation and justice.

Ideas range from adopting quotas for the recruitment of black police agents and gipsy and black African university students to supporting measures for minorities, including Brazilians, struggling in the home rentals market.
