Michelin-star Chef Paco Roncero to create culinary magic in Portugal “for first time”
Spanish chef Paco Roncero – the man behind the two Michelin-star restaurant La Terraza del Casino in Madrid and Sublimotion in Ibiza, described as “the most exclusive restaurant in the world” – will be cooking in Portugal for the first time on Tuesday, July 16 and Wednesday, July 17 at the EMO restaurant at Anantara Algarve Vilamoura Resort.
The two evenings are sure to attract foodies from all over the country who do not want to miss out on the opportunity to taste the delicious food that Chef Paco Roncero has become renowned for.
According to Anantara, the chef will be channelling influences from all over the world to create a mouthwatering dinner menu.
Appetisers will be served before the main courses, which will shine the spotlight on the ingredients – “the real stars of the show” – rather than the cooking techniques.
A surprise is also in store for diners but hosts are keeping the details under wraps for now.
Paco Roncero is one of Spain’s best-known chefs, seen as “one of the most important representatives” of the country’s cuisine.
In 2000, he became head of kitchen at the Casino de Madrid and one of his responsibilities was running La Terraza del Casino, which earned its first Michelin star two years later.
Paco Roncero has won several prestigious culinary awards, including the Chef L’Avenir Award by the International Academy of Gastronomy in 2005.
Earlier in his career, he worked for several years alongside Ferran Adriá – another Spanish chef often regarded as one of the best in the world – who helped make Roncero the chef he is today.
Paco Roncero is also a teacher at several culinary schools, leads workshops on culinary research and is an author of several cooking books.
Since October 2013, Chef Roncero has been a member of the technical division of the Comité de Honor (Honour Committee) for Spain’s Selección Española de Cocina Profesional, a select group of renowned Spanish chefs who participate in World Association of Chefs’ Societies and Bocuse d’Or competitions.
