São Brás museum dressed in white
Rotary Club Estoi Palace International (RCEPI) together with the Rotary Club of Olhão and Alliance Française hosted their 5th annual iconic White Night Dinner on Saturday, June 8 at the historic Museu de Traje in São Brás, raising around €5,000 for charity.
The evening was hailed a success with over 240 people attending, exceeding last year’s numbers. The guests dressed in white and brought white decorations for the tables. They shared homemade dishes under a star-lit sky while enjoying live music by Fado singer Melissa Simplício. The all-new Rotary Voices Choir made their debut during the event. This group is composed of Rotary members from across the Algarve.
RCEPI members were delighted to welcome Algarve dignitaries and politicians to the event including Vítor Guerreiro, mayor of São Brás, Conceição Cabrita, mayoress of Vila Real de Santo Antonio, Rotary District Governess Ilda Braz, as well as two past Rotary Governors Abílio Lopes and Afonso Malho.
The funds raised from the event will go to support two causes: the Algarve Oncology Association (AOA) and Cáritas in São Brás. Thanks to the White Night Dinner, the AOA will receive money towards outfitting a specialised mobile van with skin and lung cancer detection equipment, while Cáritas will put the money raised towards the purchase of a multipurpose transportation vehicle.
