2019 was a record-breaking year for the launch of new companies in Portugal with an unprecedented 48,854 new businesses being created – a large number were small-sized companies.
The number represents a 6.4% increase compared to 2018, according to the Informa D&B barometer.
As the barometer points out, almost all of last year’s growth in new companies “is due to the increasing number of one-person companies”, which represent more than half of startups (54%).
