Charity concert in Lagoa to raise money for drummer who suffered stroke
A concert to raise money for Paulo Rosa Martins, a respected Brazilian drummer who has lived in the Algarve for over 20 years and is recovering from a stroke that left one side of his body paralysed, will take place on Friday, October 19 at the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium in Lagoa.
‘Paulão’, as he is known, has not been able to play the drums since he suffered the stroke. Drumming is his biggest passion and his fellow musicians with whom he has shared the stage and recorded with have decided to come together for a charity concert to help him pay for his treatments and get behind the drum kit once again.
Dino d’Santiago, Beto Kalulu, Tuniko Goulart and Zé Manel Martins are just a few of the singers and musicians who will be performing at the concert.
“His enormous talent, technique and musical generosity are recognised by all and influenced many young musicians,” said organisers of the event.
All participating musicians have offered to play for free and all proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to Paulão, who will be present at the concert.
Tickets can be purchased for a minimum fee of €10. The show begins at 9.30pm and will last around two hours.
