New coach at Olhanense
Just a few days after their 4-1 drubbing by SC Farense, the Olhanense SAD terminated the contract of manager Bruno Saraiva who had been in charge since March. The new man at the helm is 38-year-old Nilton Terroso who was born in France but represented two other countries’ youth teams, Canada (U15, U17 and U23) and Portugal (U20). He spent some time at Sporting Lisbon where he played at youth and reserve team level.
Terroso’s colourful journey in life took him to South Wales 10 years ago to study performance coaching and analysis at the University of Glamorgan. He subsequently worked under Malky Mackay at Cardiff City when the Welsh side won promotion to the Premier league in 2013.
Terroso holds a master’s degree in sports science and the UEFA Pro A licence which is just one level below the UEFA Pro full licence. The new boss was briefly in charge at Atlético CP (Lisbon).
The first hurdle Terroso has to negotiate is the tough home fixture against CD Pinhalnovense, from the Setúbal District, on Sunday – kick-off 3pm at the José Arcanjo Stadium, Olhão. Pinhalnovense are currently third in Division E of the Campeonato de Portugal, a point above Olhanense.
