THE SENIOR LADIES OF PORTUGAL held a surprise golf tournament on April 5, 2005 for their Captain, Teresa Symington, as a celebration and thank you for 15 years of Captaincy. Teresa has organised hundreds of competitions in Portugal, which include a yearly International Competition, for more than 100 of the best Senior Ladies from all over Europe. Forty-five Ladies played a Stableford Competition on the Estoril golf course followed by an excellent lunch at the Pestana Beloura Clubhouse.
Attending the lunch was one brave man, Robert Symington, who arrived to the consternation of his wife…”this is only for ladies”.
But Robert, unbeknown to his wife, had very kindly donated a Solid Silver Trophy that he handed to the Captain of the Senior Ladies, with the understanding that the Ladies compete for this ‘Teresa Symington’ Trophy annually.
The FIRST winner with 37 points, Sabine Wiedenbruch, was presented by Teresa and Robert with the New Trophy; second place was Filomena Olivella and third Nina Salgado.
