Just under 50 passengers – the majority of them foreign agricultural workers – had a truly miraculous escape on Saturday when the bus they were travelling on, from Bordeaux in France to Lisbon came off the A8 motorway near Nazaré and burst into flames. A mother with two small children was among the 15 injured – her two-year-old son being rescued unhurt by two male passengers from the bus after the fire started. The motorway was shut for several hours; the bus completely gutted and reduced to a smouldering wreck of metal.
