15 Groundforce baggage handlers arrested for suspected drug trafficking

In the space of the last 18 months, PJ police (through its drug trafficking unit) have arrested no less than 15 baggage handlers working for Groundforce at Lisbon airport on suspicions of international drug trafficking. Eight of the men have been remanded in custody. The latest arrests (involving three Portuguese and a Cape Verdian national) followed suspects being “caught removing bags containing 30 kilos of cocaine from the hold of a flight from Brazil”, say reports. The men are due to appear before magistrates today.
