Runners and walkers from across the region will meet on October 16 for the 11th Mamamaratona Race for Life in Portimão.
The event is organised by the Algarve Oncology Association (AOA) and attracts national and international runners and walkers, all raising funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer.
For the first time the event will start and finish at the old fish market on Portimão riverside but the course will follow the usual route along the Arade river.
The main aim of the race is to raise funds to build Casa Flor das Dunas, a residential building to be constructed in Faro to support cancer patients while receiving radiation treatment in the capital.
Registrations are open until October 14 at the AOA headquarters in Faro and the AOA office in Portimão, as well as in the Portimão Continente Shopping Centre, at the municipal market in Av. S. João de Deus, and at Centro Hospital do Barlavento.
Registrations cost €5 for adults and €3 for children. All participants will receive a t-shirt, a hat, and other promotional gifts.
Late registrations can be done at the venue of the event on the day before from 10.30am to 6.30pm, and on the day of Mamamaratona from 8am to 9.45am.
