Complete media silence has followed the detention last Friday of 10,000 bees at the Azorean airport of Ponta Delgada. According to GNR police, the bees lacked proper documentation and were not destined for a registered beekeeper. Thus they were apprehended and delivered into the apparently safe hands of São Miguel island’s veterinarian. The only news sources that reported this story said the vet would act as a ‘reliable depositary’.
