Vale Verde International School has achieved a 100 per cent pass rate for all first time sitters of the Cambridge University International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) exams.
Twenty per cent of all students achieved an overall distinction in their subjects, 70 per cent achieved an overall merit and only two did not fall into these categories but still obtained a pass.
Vale Verde has maintained its 100 percent pass rate in all subjects but one throughout the school’s history. The school does not use the Portuguese curriculum and therefore is not ranked in the national league tables for state operated schools.
Vale Verde is currently being expanded, with existing buildings doubling in size to accommodate the growing student body. The school has also introduced interactive learning suites where students will have personal laptops provided by the school.
The idea is for class work and homework to be managed by a web-based programme that is monitored by teaching staff and students.
